Anthrologica was commissioned by WFP Chad to conduct formative research to inform the development of a social and behaviour change (SBC) strategy to improve dietary diversity among pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and young children in Chad. Grounded in applied behavioural science, the research explored how nutrition knowledge, socio-cultural norms, gender dynamics, and household realities shaped food, health and care practices among communities participating in the Cash for Protection (C4P) programme. Conducted across six regions in Chad, the study used participatory qualitative methods and validation workshops to identify key barriers and enablers influencing dietary diversity and maternal and child nutrition practices. The findings provided the evidence base for the design of an SBC initiative, including context-specific behavioural pathways and practical recommendations to strengthen nutrition-sensitive programming in fragile and food-insecure settings.
