Needs assessment and media landscape analysis on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)

Guatemala

Guatemala
Anthrologica, in partnership with the Thomson Reuters Foundation and funded by Hivos under the We Lead programme, conducted a comprehensive needs assessment and media landscape analysis in Guatemala. The study aimed to support inclusive and youth-led advocacy for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) among young women and adolescent girls. Using a multi-method approach – including media content analysis, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions – Anthrologica identified critical gaps in SRHR reporting, especially in the representation of key population groups such as individuals with HIV, LGBTQ+ communities, people with disabilities, and those affected by displacement. The findings informed bespoke training for journalists and civil society organisations to strengthen inclusive media coverage and amplify the voices of young advocates.
