El Salvador
Anthrologica was commissioned by UNICEF to develop a social and behaviour change strategy to support the well-being and dignified transit of children, adolescents, and their families moving through El Salvador. This initiative, part of the Humanitarian Action Initiative for Children on the Move and funded by the U.S. Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, was grounded in two rounds of fieldwork with migrants and programme partners – including World Vision, the Red Cross, Plan International, and Oxfam – at key border areas. Co-created with UNICEF and partners, the strategy applied the COM-B model to identify barriers and enablers related to understanding the migration journey, practicing coping strategies, accessing and using resources, and providing feedback on services such as humanitarian kits. An accountability mechanism for affected populations was built into the approach, along with a monitoring and evaluation framework to track effectiveness over time.
