Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda
Anthrologica conducted a sex and gender-based analysis of Vitamin A supplementation (VAS) programmes in Uganda and Côte D’Ivoire to better understand how gender dynamics affect access to child health and nutrition services. Using mixed methods, the study explored the barriers, needs and preferences of women and men in accessing VAS for children under five. Findings highlighted gendered responsibilities in caregiving, low awareness of Vitamin A, limited male engagement, and systemic challenges such as stigma toward adolescent mothers and weak data systems. The study generated actionable recommendations to improve VAS uptake, strengthen gender equity, and inform future programming.
