Sierra Leone
Anthrologica was contracted to conduct formative research on adolescent nutrition, health, and support systems in Sierra Leone. The study explored what ‘adolescence’ means in the context of Sierra Leone and examined the psychosocial, sociological, economic, cultural, and environmental determinants influencing adolescents’ health-seeking behaviours, dietary and lifestyle practices. It also assessed the national, sub-national, and community-level support structures – across health, nutrition, education, social policy and protection – and the policy and institutional environment shaping adolescent wellbeing. Using strong participatory approaches, Anthrologica led the research design, fieldwork, analysis, and stakeholder engagement. The findings informed context-specific interventions and delivery platforms to better support adolescent girls and boys.
