Anthrologica was contracted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to provide social science support to the Collective Service (CS), enhancing understanding of the social and behavioural factors influencing public health response uptake, initially for COVID-19 and later expanding to broader public health emergencies. Anthrologica delivered technical support across two key workstreams. In Workstream 1, the team provided on-demand technical assistance in four contexts: food security in Guatemala, Ebola preparedness in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, COVID-19 data use in Sudan, and intersectoral response in Somalia. In Workstream 2, Anthrologica led the design, research, and dissemination of four socio-behavioural data syntheses focused on vaccination uptake and cholera response in Egypt, Libya, Kenya, Malawi, and Uganda, and humanitarian coordination in Somalia. All outputs included actionable recommendations co-developed with response partners to strengthen the integration of socio-behavioural evidence in emergency response.
