Established by Dr Juliet Bedford, Anthrologica is a research-based organisation that specialises in applied anthropology in global health.
As the current Director, Juliet heads Anthrologica's network of international consultants. Our team includes social and medical anthropologists, global health experts, epidemiologists, community participation and inclusion specialists, security and logistics personnel, and medics.
Our aim is to develop appropriate and sustainable processes for improving health, especially in resource scarce settings, with measureable results. Focusing on healthcare initiatives, our projects address aspects of policy, programming, design and implementation, service delivery and uptake, monitoring and evaluation.
We work cross sector within the healthcare structures of the countries in which we operate, usually in collaboration with local partners. Our specific expertise lies in incorporating the needs and perceptions of intended beneficiaries into healthcare policy and programming to ensure it is contextually relevant and that opportunities for improving health are maximised through the active participation of recipients.
In addition to our policy and programming work, Anthrologica also undertakes new empirical research. We present our work at international conferences and publish in leading peer-reviewed journals.
